'Trust' SOLD
5" x 7" gouache on aquabord
Synonyms for trust: confidence, hope, faith, belief, conviction, expectation, dependence, reliance.
Definition of trust: 1. assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something 2. one in which confidence is placed 3. hope for the future
Every time I lock eyes with my dog I see this trust there that I don't see with anyone else. Her trust is absolute, with a very childlike faith. She believes that I will always be there for her, that I will do my best by her. And when I see her watching me with those soulful eyes, or feel her soft muzzle rest on my feet while I paint, I think of how lucky I am to have someone who believes in me so much with a faith that is never failing.
Trust is a powerful thing.
I have a pic of my dog on the computer screen with that same look in her eyes. I love it. :)
ReplyDeletePerfect way to start my day! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLovely Crystal, you can feel the trust in those eyes. Still find it hard to find when putting the brush to paper, it can be a bit elusive, showing up one day and no where to be found the next...But I figure half the battle is to show up, every day, and see what is there! I love this painting, Crystal.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece and perfect subject for the word trust. It is so true. Now I am going to go give my dog a hug.
ReplyDeleteI am spellbound.. I just lost trust in myself..
ReplyDeleteBeautiful soulful painting Crystal!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting and post. My dog and the horse I ride do the very same for me...they remind me too that I am loved unconditionally.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love it when they give you that look, and you have captured it beautifully.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet painting, Crystal! I think dogs give the unconditional trust looks more than other companion pets, but even my kitty looks at me like this :).
ReplyDeleteSpecial one, Crystal. Trust is very important in every aspect of our lives from trust in God right down to trust in our own abilities to be the best we can be in all aspects of our lives. I trust you are having a great day!
ReplyDeleteOh my... You just reached right in to my heart with this post. Different breeds but the same beautiful eyes...
ReplyDeleteIt is such a beautiful painting. And I do need to trust myself a little more. It's that confidence thing again! :0)
Wonderful post! You captured you puppy's character so perfectly. I understand the look of love a dog can have for his/her person, I miss it very much. There's nothing like it!
ReplyDeleteI've said it before and I'll say it again ... just as I think you can't do any better, you do. This is such a beautiful painting. Not just the skilful brushwork but the choice of medium and the tightly cropped composition. Though your post is brilliant this painting needed no words ... it's in the eyes for all to see. Exquisite!!
ReplyDeleteLove how you have captured that expression and the beautiful shiny coat too !
ReplyDeleteWhat a soulful expression! Wonderful job and post!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding work, Crystal. This was really touches me.
ReplyDeleteA perfect title for a perfect painting! Love this post as always, Crystal...it touches my heart!!
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet, soulful eyes!
ReplyDeleteAmazing Crystal !
ReplyDeleteNice ...
ReplyDeleteoutsatanding crystal !...you're working beautifully on aquaboard
ReplyDeleteI love the powerful statement captured by her eyes, and the fact that you chose to say it in black and white has emphasized it even more. In fact, I really liked your monochromatic paintings so much (I fell in love with your "self-portrait of my soul"...) -- and I think your paintings are so strong in their designs in the value patterns, even though it's often the saturated colors in them that captures the eye. You are a great value painter as much as a colorist!
ReplyDeleteI have a small technical question regarding the aquaboard -- do you have to glaze many times to get the darks so saturated? And how exactly did you do the softer passages? When I tried it, it dried so fast I couldn't get any wet-into-wet effects to work...
What a stunning piece. I love dogs and yours is sooooo beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on doing this lovely painting and on having such a lovely dog too.
I want to kiss that dog on its sweet little cheeks. You are an awesome dog portraitist!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Love the dog!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous portrait of your dog. Know that look very well :) xx
ReplyDeleteThats a wonderful portrait, Crystal.
ReplyDeleteI love this post so much. What an incredible portrait. And what a sweet face! There's nothing like a dog's love. Give him a biscuit for me. :)
ReplyDeleteThe detail in those eyes is amazing!
ReplyDeletea beautiful thoughtful post and a stunning work of art! a perfect combination! thank you for these words.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful portrait Crystal. This is how my black Lab, Faith looked at me when I had to have her put to sleep in the summer of last year. I pray she trusted me to realise I was doing what for best for her, even though it broke my heart. Now to find that other trust you speak of ...
ReplyDeleteThose eyes would melt anybodies heart another masterpiece from your brush.
