Saw this beautiful girl at the dog show me and my son went to earlier this year, I think she's a Saluki.
This has been a busy week. Back to school shopping, meeting the boys new teachers at back to school night, my youngest son's fourth birthday party, and spending our last week together before school starts doing all kinds of fun stuff.
Happy Birthday to my baby boy!!
I can't believe he's already four. We made puppy cupcakes, which has kind of turned into his tradition. He always asks for 'pupcakes' for his birthday. :)
It's been a good week. Crazy, but good.
The end of the summer always brings out mixed emotions for me. Part of me wants our routine back and yes, a break from brotherly squabbling. If I hear one more time "Mom he's touching me!!!" I swear. . .
But a larger part of me wants to have unlimited days of being at home together, afternoon trips to the park, art projects, long drives in the car while listening to Harry Potter, and swimming with the cousins.
So yeah, I'm going to miss summer. But at least it brings us one step closer to fall and Halloween, my favorite season of all. :)
Huzzah!!
I can still see the baby portrait you painted in your big boy's face. He still has that wonderful expression of wonder. Nice dog sketch too.
ReplyDeleteWonderful sketch, Crystal.....I am missing summer already too. Jacob gone home to live with his mom now that he is turning 12 (long story) and starting middle school. Knowing him and his love of Lord of the Rings he is looking at it as an adventure to "middle earth." LOL Still I have to get used to not hearing his laughter and enjoying our long discussions on oh so many topics. See, Grandmother's face the same thing.
ReplyDeleteThe portrait of the dog is wonderful, but, what stole my heart was the photo of your son. I could totally see the baby portrait you painted of him, too.
ReplyDeleteYour baby boy is adorable!!! From my heart, I wish many happy, healthy, blissful birthdays more to come!
ReplyDelete(I'm not going to say anything about sketch, because your work is always brilliant and that's a standard)
Warm regards.
So not ready for the end of summer! Happy Birthday Wishes!!! He is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm not ready for the summer to end either! That is definitely one handsome Saluki, Crystal! And a very Happy Birthday wish to your youngest! Love the pupcakes. Cute note about their squabbling "Mom, he looked at me!" Brings back memories of my niece and nephew, in their late teens now, and NOT squabbling. :)
ReplyDeleteA lovely sketch. It has an old school feeling over it, like it was painted a few centuries ago by the masters...
ReplyDeleteYou are so good at sketches, this is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sketch, Crystal! Happy Birthday to your Son!! He's growing up SO fast...He's a handsome little boy and love the way he's looking up!...
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love your sketch!! I'm a Saluki, and SIU Saluki:) My college mascot! Very cool!! And happy birthday to your little guy, they grow up way too fast:(( And I'm with you I think I want few more weeks of Summer, we've already started school and Steven asked me how long this school thing lasts:) But, like you I'm ready to get some Fall decor out and paint some Fall and Halloween themed paintings:)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous sketch! And your summers sound wonderful! No wonder you don't want them to end, except the sibling bickering :) My son starts kindergarten and I didn't realize how hard it was going to be for me. But more time for your artwork, which is great!
ReplyDeleteI remember those days and felt just as you do now. Glad you are wise enough to enjoy the moments, they are over all too soon, then it's on to new kind of being family :-)
ReplyDeleteAw happy birthday baby boy!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sketch! It looks like you draw so effortlessly!
ReplyDeleteYou must have such mixed emotions about your youngest about to start school - I remember that feeling so well! My son goes back this Tuesday. It will be his last year at school. It will feel very odd when he leaves school altogether! :0)
Gorgeous drawing, Crystal! I remember those mixed emotions at the end of a summer with young children well! Happy Fall!
