Magnetic SOLD

Magnetic (number 3 in the Smitten series)
6" x 6" gouache SOLD
$65 plus $7 US shipping or $15 International

Do you remember how it felt when you first fell in love? How you couldn't be further than arms length apart from each other, almost like a magnet was pulling you together?
I love that the girl is looking at the viewer, but the guy isn't. There's something a little possessive about her gaze, I can almost hear her saying, "mine."

He seems to be blocking everything out except for her. To me, he seems to be just. . . so happy.

And the way their faces are so close together I'm wondering, did they just break apart from a kiss, or are they just about to?

Ah, love.

Nothing better right? ;)

Until next week my friends. Monday is the reveal of the March Cook-Waller monthly painting challenge! Huzzah!

  1. Ah, Crystal,
ʚ(ˆ◡ˆ)ɞ What could I add more! Just recently I sketched a young student couple. They were not studying, but kissing every single minute all day longʚ(ˆ◡ˆ)ɞ!!

  2. I am smitten too by her and the painting of course. :)

  3. Ah the memories ...the memories...

It works so well in mono; but then I would say that.

My motto: Romantic truth without photographic realism

  4. Une très jolie gouache... Un travail admirable tant au niveau technique qu'au niveau sensibilité... Une belle interprétation. Avec l'arrivée du printemps un beau symbole...
    Gros bisous

  5. Absolutely, completely and utterly beeeeeeeeautiful!! I love the look, that gaze and the story it leaves us to tell... Perfect! I have never tried Gouache before. It looks very effective and I love that this in in monochrome :0)

  6. Really like the b&w look and the gouache is just right :) Great realistic painting with minimal details!

  7. this is gouache? wow. I love using gouache but never tried just black before-duh. As always, your portraits are incredible-and this is downright steamy.

  8. you just keep blowing me away with your ability to capture and convey so much emotional energy in your work. incredible piece

  9. Stirs up so much emotion, Crystal. Just beautiful!

  10. There is something so captivating about this painting... I could hardly move my eyes away!

In the simplified statement of black and white, the emotional intensity just appears all the way more powerful.

... Oh, did I mention that I fell in love with her eyes?...

  11. This is beautiful Crystal! I love how you did it in black and white! So neat to see how you can be so broad as an artist.. you're very talented. I love this smitten series! Well done Crystal!

  12. As always, I love your paintings, Crystal. They always have a story behind it. I love the black and white also..very dramatic! AHHH! Love...I remember well!!!

  13. Absolutely, AMAZING!!!! I just love it, you are the master at capturing emotions in portraits.

  14. Mu new favourite of yours! Full of feeling - just fabulous! xx

  15. So cool and lovely! How do you do it? Seriously, you are amazing!

  16. First word that comes to my mind is 'complicity'...but in any case you did it again , a new master piece! Stunning light!

  17. Gorgeous Crystal! I love the title and the idea of this painting theme you are exploring.
    Have a wonderful creative weekend.
