snuggly wolf sketch :)
graphite on bristol
First of all a great big thank you to all of you who have helped me get the word out about my contest. I really appreciate it and now consider each one of you the ultimate in awesomeness :) If I could I would bake you all chocolate chip cookies. In fact, if you're ever in Utah stop on by!
Now, it's back to business folks. I'm a day late with my sketchbook post, but here it is.
I went to the library and got a bunch of books about wolves and have been studying them and sketching from them, to help me with the wolf painting I have in mind that is probably going to be one of my next works in progress. It's been fun and I just had to share this one of a wolf snuggled up against the back of another wolf. I kind of like the idea of wolves as cuddle beasts instead of slavering attack beasts.
And here are some pictures from my art show that opened on Friday. It was very small, but still pretty fun.
Here I am next to one of my favorite paintings of my baby boy.
Posing with my model baby (okay he's two, kind of not a baby anymore). And yes I know he needs a haircut, but I just can't bring myself to do it. He's my last one. I think. I'm pretty sure. We'll see :)
And here's handsome hubby next to his portrait. Smiling. Because I asked him to :) Sometimes he needs a little coaching in that department, he's prone to looking. . . intimidating?? Is that the word I'm going for? Maybe more like serious. No wait, I got it, 'intense.' That's it ;)
So. . . what's up with you guys? Anybody have any good news to share?
Crazy! A wolf is my next big one too. I'm doing a shepherd dog first, but that wolf is waiting for me, but I like the vicious beasts hiding inside. hehehe. I'll probably go for a more cuddly image first though like you. We must be on the same wavelength because the library was on my mind all day yesterday since I couldn't find enough online.
ReplyDeleteThose framed paintings look out of this world.. Your 2 year old looks out of this world. Well I am not going to use 'out of this world' again. LOL..
ReplyDeleteCan you send some chocolate chip cookies here!!!
Elizabeth, that is CRAZY!! How cool, I can't wait to see yours!! I love the library, I could move in there and just snuggle next to all those books!
ReplyDeleteThanks Prabal! lol! I'll get right on sending you those cookies ;)
I love the sketch Crystal - He looks very friendly and not in the least scary! (Same goes for your hubby too! Lol! ;0D)
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely to see these photographs of you and your family.
Hmmm... I bet there will be another addition one day!! You don't sound quite finished yet! lol!
Loving the wolf, can't wait to see a painting of your new found inspiration! It's terrible but I haven't found the library since we've moved here. I have a love/hate relationship with the library. I love it because I go crazy checking out all the books, but I hate it because I never seem to get those books in on time. I will have to check ours out here.
ReplyDeleteOh, how could I forget to comment on your pics! Congrats on your show, and love to see your fam. And I am so in the same boat with the cutting of the hair. Brian tole me that Sam has a mullet, guess I'm going to have to break down and get it cut. The last vestiges of babyhood, Ahhh! (And I know with your little guy it's hard to cut the curls, my oldest had a head full)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the show and thanks for posting photos of yourself and your family. Your paintings look great hanging there in that gallery.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra! :):) lol! You never can tell you know? ;)
ReplyDeleteCarrie, thank you! I'm the same with my library, I swear I supply a good deal of the new books they buy ;) It is SO hard to cut our baby's hair isn't it?! I can't say goodbye to his curls, I just can't!!
Thank you very much Michelle! :):)
Your talent is amazing.
ReplyDeleteOh Crystal, thanks for sharing! Those pictures are GREAT! And with your family there...perfect : ) You all look so sweet (especially that smile on your baby!). The wolf sketch is sensitive and rendered beautifully. Love those eyes.
ReplyDeletep.s. THANK you for your help last night. I finally got NetworkedBlogs working this evening. Yay!
Thanks so much for sharing, I love seeing your paintings with mats and frames! They looks amazing! I also love your wolf sketch. Are you going to the 2010 Avenues Street Fair in SLC this weekend? My uncle has a booth there for his photography, if you are there check out Tetontrail Photography (look for the moose)!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Gail! So glad you stopped by :)
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks so much Kim :):) And you're welcome! I'm glad you got it all worked out!
Thanks Rachel! I'll have to look out for your uncle this weekend, I hadn't planned on going, but maybe now I'll stop by :):) I LOVE moose!
Those pictures look great, Crystal..of course we have seen them bfore, but they are more beautiful this way- framed and hanging!Congrats for putting them together :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how the wolf turns out. I'm sure it will be awesome!
ReplyDeleteYour wolf reminds me of my Winston puppy when he's sleepy. He makes a face similar to that.
ReplyDeleteGood news...Baby will be here soon! Hopefully...YAY!
Great photos of you, your family and your paintings. Hope the show is going really well!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you've got to tell us about these shows be-fore they happen so we can come support you. ;)
