5 x 7 watercolor
This was a fun piece to do, and it was pretty quick too. Which is always great for me because I think I'm one of the top five most impatient people on the planet. I was always the kid who asked if we could open Christmas presents a day early.
I just love that face. There's something about mountain lions that I think is such a perfect combination of fierce and beautiful. I love how the light makes her fur look so soft. It makes me want to bury my hands in it, if doing so would not endanger my life and limbs. ;)
What a handsome fellow!!! I too love the soft fur and that look of concentration in the eyes that you have captured!
ReplyDeleteLooks great Crystal! His fur even looks soft, not sure how you did that. Great face too! Kathy Stone, another watercolor artist takes plastic spoons and cuts them in half vertically and it makes the perfect tool for masking out whiskers and fine lines. I'll have to show a pic.
ReplyDeleteGreat painting. Opening presents early is sacrilege btw. Gotta get your present fix all at once. Man I miss being 8.
ReplyDeleteI love cats! This one is a beauty. Glad he isn't stalking me. Great job!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe this was a quick painting! I'm always in awe of watercolorists because you have to leave the white. I can add mine at the end and can paint over or wipe off a mistake. (Which I do a lot.)
WOW.. Really that face has something. And the colors are great I feel. By the way I am there in the top 3 list.. :)
ReplyDeleteI opened up your blog again to show my husband this painting and wondered where my comment had gone - then I realised that you have posted this twice! He thinks it's awesome by the way :0)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, Crystal. Look at that concentration on his face....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I LOVE the finished product! The dark blue background provides such a great contrast the the body and face. LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteHer face stands out well against the deep blue...very beautiful painting.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful!
