'Curious' SOLD
6" x 6" watercolor
I find it curious that the times I want/need to paint are the times when I suddenly have absolutely no time to paint at all.
I find it curious that I can use the same four or five colors over and over again and get endless combinations of new and exciting (or, if we're being honest, awful) colors.
I find it curious that water and thin puddles of color can create depth and form on what was originally a flat, boring piece of paper.
I find it curious that chocolate never gets old. Not even a little bit.
And finally. . .
I find the expression of this curious horse to be very, very endearing. :)
Huzzah :))
I am not sure who said it or where I heard it, but all that matters is what works, not if it is right or wrong, and you really make things work.
ReplyDeleteAnother great watercolor.
I marvel at these same "curious" things myself at times. And I agree with what Roger said: what matters is what works...like a limited palette!
ReplyDeleteAnother fantastic painting, full of all the qualities that make your work special and instantly recognizable as a "Crystal Cook" painting :).
Ce qui n'est pas curieux c'est que j'aime toujours autant votre travail et je m'extasie à chaque fois devant vos peintures.
ReplyDeleteGros gros bisous
Love hearing your thought process! And your work is just as fantastic as usual!
ReplyDeleteLove this post, I marvel at a lot of the same things my friend. So much to be curious about and you've captured that beautifully in your painting
ReplyDeleteI find all of those things curious too! Like you, I also find that the times I am most desperate to paint are the times I simply don't have the time. The horse is stunning! I like his fluffy tummy and legs. And you are right, the fact that we can turn a flat, white bit of paper in to a beautiful image is curious indeed! Quite magical really :0)
ReplyDeleteI think there may be a law of physics that makes your desire to paint be in exactly inverse proportion to the time alloted for doing so. Happens to me all the time:-) Gorgeous "Curious" horsey!!
ReplyDeleteI often muse about these myself too -- how 3-D objects are so beautifully rendered on mere paper in water, colors and shapes :) And you are a master at it !!!
ReplyDeleteLove hearing your sweet voice on the AHA show! You did a wonderful job! I know what you mean about wanting to paint when you can not. I took on a furniture commission job that would not end. I wanted to be painting on canvas instead. LOVE your horse! It is amazing watching a painting come to life, isn't it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting Crystal!! This horse is absolutely perfect.!!
ReplyDeleteCrystal, he really does have such a sweet expression!! Double HUZZAH!!!
ReplyDeleteRemarkable, Crystal, if the horse could say, "What?" that's what it would be saying - perfectly captured.
ReplyDeleteYour paintings are already oozing beauty. And then your titles and your write ups make your painting even more interesting. I am now CUROUS to know from where did you get all this talent!! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Karen Martin Simpson! Something about there being no time, and the increased desire! Wonderful job on the light. But I don't know if I agree about awful colors - they help wonderful colors with their 'wonderfulness' :D
ReplyDeleteI find it curious how you are able to churn out one masterpiece after another! ;)
ReplyDeleteSomeone just came around the corner with a bucket of grain for this magnificent animal. Superb painting Crystal.
ReplyDeleteEstupendo cuadro!! Me gusta tu trabajo, en especial en esta obra, la luz como baña el hermoso animal. Felicidades!! Un cordial saludo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful one, Crystal....congrats on the sale!
ReplyDeleteCrystal, love the line about chocolate not getting old. It's true. This is a gorgeous painting. Thanks for sharing your pic with your boys. I have 3 boys, too, and I always admire another mom of all boys.
ReplyDeleteLove the horse!
ReplyDeleteLaughed out loud at chocolate never getting old - it never gets a chance to in this house!
