"Lunette" SOLD
5" x 5" watercolor
I have a thing for shiny, highlighted. . . things. I love painting them. But I really love painting faces and life too. When looking for a face to paint, it's usually the eyes that decide it for me.
I thought it might be interesting to paint a series of eyes all as close ups, so the eyes are the subject matter. What do you think? This is my first one, and I absolutely loved all the different colors in her eyes, and those lashes?
Sigh, sigh, happy sigh. Come on ladies, who doesn't want lashes like that?
*crickets*
That's what I thought. :)
Huzzah!!
Photo reference by celynek, thank you!
Stunning! Her eyes and that you were able to capture that beauty oh so well! To put it in your words....huzzah!!!:):)
ReplyDeleteCrystal, I do believe it is your ability to see people that allows you to paint eyes the way you do. You seem to be painting their heart through the window of the eye, just incredible!
Gros bisous
I love it Crystal! I think that is a fabulous series. What a gorgeous eye it is:)
ReplyDeleteI think a series of eyes is definitely a winner...I love the cropped version so much..Beautifully done, Crystal!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I think this would make a terrific series.
ReplyDeleteI love a close-up, and I love this one. It has a nice graphic feel, lovely colors, and is inspiring.
ReplyDeleteLovely close-up, and I like the sound of crickets which goes with it!
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL! amazing close-up, congrat!
ReplyDeleteI read hereabouts, a week or so ago, that an artist never ever really sees something until she/he draws it. We sort of see a holistic view of the subject ... we might note the beauty of an eye, but not understand what that beauty really was.
ReplyDeleteIf that artist didn't really make that comment, then your picture makes it now, Crystal. It spells out exactly where that beauty lies for you have captured every tiny part of it's unique wonder and placed it before us.
How do you get that moist look of the eyes.... Eyes series by Crystal. It had to be..
ReplyDeleteBeautiful eye! I could fall for eyes like that ...
ReplyDeleteI can just see a wall section with this series hanging on it. Love this first one, the eyes say it all don't they.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely....the close crop, the shadows of the eye lashes, and the depth and glow of color in the eye is spot on. well done Crystal

ReplyDeleteI think it is absolutely incredible! Those eyes look so real, so full of life, soul and even thought! I wonder how you do that? How she actually looks as though she Is gazing at something... I am sighing too, and yes who wouldn't want those lashes!!! :0))
