A sweet woman contacted me a few weeks ago and asked for two commissions of her two pets. Don't you just love Lucy's face? And Gabriel looks like he's up to something doesn't he?

Today I opened up my watercolor palette and started painting and I had the most peaceful feeling come over me as soon as I started swirling my brush through the colors and water.

It was awesome. :)

Huzzah for stress-relieving art making!!

  2. Crystal, this Lucy dog has more of a real presence than a real dog...how do you do that? I'm glad you had a wonderful time getting back to your watercolors today, although I've enjoyed seeing your oils.

  7. Wow Guvvna! You've surpassed yourself here, these are totally brilliant. The trademark whisker and eye details... woo hoo!

I don't know how much your commission fee is but it won't be enough ... these belong in as gallery.

    What a star performance, Crystal

  11. I think part of your happiness with this is that you took a short vacation from your favorite medium, stepped into unfamiliar territory, enjoyed yourself, and came back to the familiar, discovering it all over again. How fun is that?

  15. Aww.. they are both adorable and so brilliantly painted! I feel like I'm going to reach out and pet them or play with them-as it seems that Gabriel will go for few playing moments.

  19. Crystal, these are both adorable! It's hard to believe they are ACEO's, but then again, with colored pencil, that's probably the best scale to work in with such detail and not drive yourself nuts :).

The eyes, as usual, are simply amazing! They look like living, breathing pets.
