"Forever"
10 x 14 watercolor
Here's the finished painting of my niece and their family dog, Jackson. He died last year and they got him right before my beautiful niece was born. They grew up together and he was an awesome dog. I thought it was fitting to paint his portrait with her in it too. And I just loved her arms around his neck. I hope you like it Jenny Lee, love you :)
And I just wanted to give a great big thank you to everyone who follows me here and takes the time to leave such kind, thoughtful comments. I appreciate each one of you so much and sometimes you say just the thing I needed to hear. Just wanted you to know. You guys are so awesome and amazingly talented. All of you. Have a great happy making day!

Crystal - What a wonderful gift for you to paint your niece with her beloved dog. The side lighting, with Jackson facing the direction of the light, gives the feeling that he's headed for a sunny, happy place. It's a very sweet piece.
ReplyDeleteCrystal, another beautiful piece. I love YOUR sense of light and your figure work is bang on. The dog's coat is especially nice!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! Thank you so much. You captured them both perfectly. I will be proud to have it in my home and tell everyone My Sister did it for me. You are so talented, but you already know that. Love you tons:):):) Jenny
ReplyDeleteWhat a truly special paintig. It must be a lovely feeling knowing that your paintings will hold such sentiment for so many years to come. When I painted my daughter I wrote a message on the back to make it even more personal. She was so pleased with it but obviously one day it will mean even more. You can tell just by looking at your paintings just how much you love doing them. My favorite part is the girls face. Her personality jumps right out of the picture!
ReplyDeleteThank you for such kind words too. People follow you for a reason you know - You are a true talent and clearly a lovely person too. I am honoured to have you as one of my followers!
Crystal,
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous. I'm learning how truly beautiful a watercolor can be. Your colors are so rich. I can practically feel the dog's soft fur.
how wonderful crystal beautiful light ... a very special bond and memory
ReplyDeleteA fantastic painting that brings out the depth of the emotional bondage. Fabulous light. I love how you have left parts of your pretty niece's hair and Jackson head, white. The expression of fondness on Jenny's face and that of submissive love on Jackson have been magically captured. Great job.
ReplyDeleteBTW, this in all probabilities is the first ever comment on a painting of yours from an airport lounge :)
What a beautiful and wonderful job you've done!!! A great memory of Jackson!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, thank you :) That is a beautiful image you painted with your words. It makes my heart happy. Thanks :)
