Things I Had No Words For

"I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way. . . Things I had no words for."  Georgia O'Keefe

"Bring Me To Life"

15 x 20 watercolor

I was talking with a friend a few weeks ago, trying to tell him what I was feeling. I said I didn't think I could put it into words. He challenged me to paint it instead. So I did. This is unlike anything I've ever painted. I'm not quite sure what I think about it yet. It was cathartic, that's for sure.

  1. Good Lord !

What shall I call this ? The epitome of expression in art? This cannot be true? No human being could paint like that.

I fainted at this point, overcome with surprise and the rest of this comment was typed after someone sprinkled water on my face to wake me up.

Jokes apart, this to me is your best painting ever. Fantastic. Truly divine. I don't think I will ever be able to put down in words, my reaction to this painting.

I am so happy for you. I have to rephrase what I had said before.

Inspiration, Motivation, Encouragement and Talent, they name is Crystal

  2. Crystal this is amazing! What a beautiful picture! When I saw it I immediately thought of my current WIP it depicts my main character exactly how I wanted her. Not the appearance but the picture of her standing there and one hand colorful facing the sky and the other gray and distant. The hand leaning down is the mirror image of her, it's brilliant!! She's reaching to save herslef...

    Wow brilliant!!!

  3. I like this, the fact its a very emotionally powered painting really comes across. Importantly when you review this painting does it successfully put across the emotions you can't verbally express?

  9. It's so lovely when a painting has some sort of hidden story behind it begging to be figured out. When you look at a picture and wonder what it means and I find my self trying to analyze - It's really clever! I have my own idea of what it's about. I wonder if every one else has the same...?

  12. Well, since you are curious to know what other people see in this painting - I see someone who feels vulnerable, maybe even a little scared and alone. This person feels the need for some support and is reaching out. The fact that the left arm and the lower part of the figure is in a colder, darker place and the warmth and light is coming from above suggests to me that she will find comfort in the hand she takes. Of course this is just my own interpretation - I could be barking completely up the wrong tree!
