Sketchbook Tuesday #4

"Sober" colored pencil sketch

Such a serious expression on that little face. I wonder why? I loved the soft light from the side and his big expressive eyes. Admittedly, I spent more time on his face than anything else in this sketch. But that's the fun part right?

  1. "I wonder why?" That is a good question. From what I can tell both of his parents have perma-grins. Rarely do people call his father by his given name; they usually call hime Smiles-a-Mile or Illegal Smile. At least his brow is not furrowed.

    As always, nicely done!

  3. Ahhh... This is a very tired little face! I just want to dive in to those poochy little cheeks and give each one a big, squishy kiss!
Wow - I can't beleive that this is what you would consider a sketch! It is just exquisite!

  4. Crystal, that is awesome! You need to paint that one. His little face just looks through to your soul. Such great emotion in this sketch:)

  5. Beautifully done, Crystal. I love the authenticity of his facial features; how both sides are separate, yet one. Something we can all see if we split our face in half with a mirror image of half only. We are like two halves made whole.

  6. I agree with the eyes being the most fun part to draw. Nicely done.
