Wild Kitten SOLD

'Wild Kitten' colored pencil on paper  SOLD
ACEO size 2.5" x 3.5" (about the size of a baseball card)

I may be doing more of this small size for this 30 in 30 challenge. I was amazed at how much more time a small 5" x 7" took than this size!

I love this little mountain lion kitten's big, sparkly eyes. I know, not a surprise. I'm pretty sure I say that in every post. But it's true! That's what draws me to a subject, and my favorite part of a painting or drawing.

That's all for today. :)  I'm keeping a little quiet for once. Just one more thing. . .

 I'm not blonde anymore!! ;)

This is painting/drawing 6/30 in the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. Onward!!

  1. Before anything I must say this first -- I love your new hair color! Do I have your permission to paint using this photo as a reference? If it does not turn out as beautiful as the model I promise I am not going to post it anywhere --

I am thinking about doing a portrait for the DPW challenge of doing something new, and I love this photo of you -- witty expression, glowing hair.

Not that I have anything against beautiful blonde hair. But it is fun to try out different colors from time to time! I envy you for this -- I have black hair which means whatever color I dye it, it just pretty much turns into a dirty shade. Black hair is stubborn in that way :-(

I love the texture of fur you did in this painting -- in fact you did not paint "fur", only soft diffused color patches. But they speak of the soft fluffiness so evidently! Of course the big innocent eyes are killers. Is this a colored pencil one? I was studying the texture a bit and wasn't sure...

  2. The kitten is just marvelous! The eyes, the fur and the whiskers, everything is perfect!
Very nice hair color, really brings out your blue eyes! :)

  3. That is a gorgeous little piece of art!

  4. I don't know how you do it...amazing, especially for something that small!

  5. Well I love the hair! SO brave of you! I have always fancied trying a darker colour but just never had the courage in case I can't change it back.
The cat is just GORGEOUS!! I can't believe how something so small can be so detailed! It's amazing! And I hope you do more small ones like this of lots of subjects. I'd quite like to buy one :0)

  6. Your hair looks great! Beautiful painiting!

  7. A good thing to use coloured pens for this one. You can actually see the fur on the kitten. So pretty!

  8. Que gato más bonito, me encantan los ojos!

    Un saludo.

  12. I am always amazed at how much detail and how masterful you can render a tiny painting! do And I love the hair!!! You look great blonde or brunette, that is hard to always look good no matter what:)) And I love that you post your music, book and show, it makes me Happy Happy Happy, and you can take that to the bank, Jack:)

  13. Your wild kitten is fabulous, as always. Those eyes ...!!!!!
And I truly love your hair color. What a rich chestnut! :)

  14. Hi Crystal! I really, REALLY want to buy this piece, but when I went to buy it the shipping price says it's $25 not $5 as listed, making the entire price $50, not $30. If you could put this piece on hold for me, until the shipping price can be fixed, I would really love to purchase it. It's a gorgeous painting and I absolutely love it!!!

  15. What a lovely little cat! I like the golden glow of the fur.
